Selecting hand, gauge and manifold valves
There are several different styles of gauge
valves and manifolds in the PRECISION line, and within these are often
variations that might make a particular manifold work better, or worse, in a
given set of circumstances. Below is a basic breakdown to help guide you
to the style of manifold that will best fit your applications. Each
brochure features a part numbering guide for ease of ordering.

Mini Valves
- These are isolation and bleed valves only.
They are smaller, and slightly less expensive than our 'full size' models and
are generally intended for panel makers and other applications where space may
not be available to use our full size valves.

Isolation/Bleed Valves
- These valves are designed to allow the user to
isolate an offline instrument from process. The isolation valves do ONLY
that, they isolate. When the valvehead is closed, the process is isolated
below the valvehead. However, there is no provision for safely releasing
any pressure or fluid that might be trapped ABOVE the valve, such as in a gauge.
The bleeding gauge valves feature an M8 bleed screw that allows any trapped
pressure or fluid to be released safely. However, the bleed is at the
valve, and release is to atmosphere, so these are generally not employed in
toxic or hazardous applications.

Multi-Port Gauge Valves
- The multi-port gauge valves from PRECISION allow the user maximum flexibility
in mounting and bleeding. As shown above, they can be mounted horizontally
or vertically. All PRECISION multi-port gauge valves INCLUDE the plug and
bleed plug illustrated above, so there is no extra components or part number to
remember to purchase. The design allows in-situ calibration, simply
isolate the instrument by closing the valve, bleed off trapped pressure, remove
the blind plug, install test equipment in the port the plug was removed from,
and calibrate! Also, multiple instruments can be connected to the
valve, and other valves can be substituted in place of one or more of the plugs,
allowing diversion of process to other areas.
Venting Gauge Valves
- Designed to provide the ultimate flexibility in
isolating, commissioning and calibrating pressure gauges and pressure
transmitters, PRECISION'S venting gauge valves are 2 valve manifolds with NPT
inlet/outlet, styles to fit pressure gauges and all manufacturers new styles of
pressure transmitters. They allow cost, weight and space savings compared
to 'older' patterns of mounting. They feature an isolation valve to
isolate the instrument from process, a 1/4" Fnpt vent port that is controlled by
a second valve head. This style allows the user to 'pipe away' any trapped
process fluid for safety, and the vent port can be used for in-situ calibration.

Transmitter Mount Manifolds
- PRECISION offers a comprehensive line of manifolds for properly isolating,
commissioning and calibrating pressure and differential pressure transmitters.
PRECISION offers manifolds for traditional transmitter flanges as well as
coplanar and other styles. NPT and futball inlets are available, and we
offer manifolds for virtually any transmitter manufacturer's products.
Remote Mount
manifolds - PRECISION remote mount manifolds features female inlet and
outlet, and are ideal for mounting the manifolds in a 'user friendly' location
between process and instrument. Also, they are frequently used to properly
install, isolate and commission our simple differential pressure instruments
featured on this website.
Enclosure
Mount Manifolds
- When instruments need to be protected from the elements, they are often
mounted in enclosures with heaters, etc. PRECISION offers 2, 3 & 5 valve
manifolds with this specific design criteria in mind. Process inlets are
from the bottom, with provision for steam tracing if required, bulkhead mount,
valve handles and logic on the front, and transmitter flange facing the rear of
the enclosure.
